General Business 360 Research Guide

Consultants & Information Literacy

Although there are some general sources for consultants, consultants need to maintain high information literacy in the specific fields in which they work. For example, a marketing consultant working for a pet food manufacturer would use sources in the fields of marketing and pet food manufacturing.

Hyperlink Information

Hyperlinks lead either to the library database where you'll find the source or to the source's homepage on the internet, if it is an open access source, which means it’s not behind a paywall.

If any links are broken, let us know. However, remember that you can always perform a journal search on the library's home page to find specific publications.

Trade Publications - Consulting

Why is McKinsey Quarterly not here?

McKinsey Quarterly's coverage is broad, so it counts as a popular magazine, not a trade. However, it is also content marketing; it exists to promote McKinsey's consulting business. Use with caution.

Why is Strategy + Business not here?

Strategy + Business's coverage is broad, so it counts as a popular magazine, not a trade. However, like McKinsey Quarterly, it is also content marketing; it is published by "member firms of the PwC network" and may exist to promote PWC's consulting business. Use with caution.
