Step 4: Confirm you are searching the UW-Madison catalog, not the full UW System. This will ensure you can limit your search by location in the following step.

Step 5: Narrow your search by limiting to the Reserves at Ebling Library.

  • Go to Locations at the right of your screen, select Ebling Library, and then Reserves.

  • Search for the title for which you are checking availability. In the example below, "usmle" is used to search for the USMLE Step 1 Qbook. You could also search by author or other fields available in the Advanced Search.

Step 6: Find your title in the results. There may be multiple entries for the same title, and you will want to check the status for each of them to determine if any are available for checkout.

  • If you see a listing with a green check mark by Reserves, it is available, and you can visit the library to check it out.

  • If all listings have a red X by reserves, look just below that line to find when each is expected to be returned.

Step 7: Optional - If this is a title you are frequently using, click the heart in the upper right of the catalog entries for the title to save it to your lists. Then you can just log into your library account with your NetID, click Lists, and have those titles easily available to check instead of going to Advanced Search each time. Be sure to save all entries to avoid missing availability.
