Why would you use statistics/datasets?

Statistics and/or data sets provide a snapshot of the prevelence of any given or defined component of a population, disease or health indicators.

In an effort to provide consistency across countries, data are primarily obtained for global or cross-national entities vs countries specifically, and therefore may not represent the most recent year available at the country level.

Global Cancer Observatory
Provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Cancer Observatory (GCO) is an interactive web-based platform presenting global cancer statistics to inform cancer control and research.
Global Health Observatory (includes info from WHOSIS)
The WHO Statistical Information System (WHOSIS) has been incorporated into the Global Health Observatory (GHO) to provide you with more data, more tools, more analysis and more reports.
Health Equity Assessment Toolkit
(HEAT and HEAT Plus) Inequalities can be assessed through disaggregated data and summary measures of health inequality, visualized in interactive graphs, maps and tables. Results can be exported and saved in different formats.
Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation
(IHME) is an independent global health research center at the University of Washington that provides rigorous and comparable measurement of the world's most important health problems and evaluates the strategies used to address them.

IHME makes this information freely available so that policymakers have the evidence they need to make informed decisions about how to allocate resources to best improve population health.
International Household Survey Network
The mission of the International Household Survey Network (IHSN) is to improve the availability, accessibility, and quality of survey data within developing countries, and to encourage the analysis and use of this data by national and international development decision makers, the research community, and other stakeholders.
OECD iLibrary
SourceOECD is the online library of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. It includes 20 book collections by theme, 24 periodicals, the OECD statistical databases, and the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals.

Publications can be accessed using the list of categories on the SourceOECD home page or they can be found by using a keyword search. An "advanced" search feature allows for searching of journals only.

Global Health Facts is comprised of more than 100 indicators and provides users with the ability to map, rank, and download the data for custom analyses. Data are obtained from a variety of public and private sources. United Nations Statistics Division (UN Data)
The United Nations Statistics Division compiles and disseminates global statistical information, develops standards and norms for statistical activities, and supports countries' efforts to strengthen their national statistical systems.
The World Bank Data
The World Bank provides free and open access to a comprehensive set of data about development in countries around the globe, together with other datasets cited in the data catalog.
UN Sustainable Development Data Dashboard
Country profiles, interactive maps, and data around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
