The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding contributions of law teachers (full-time and adjunct) in teaching, scholarship, advocacy, and/or service on behalf of animals.

Designed to honor an "emerging clinician," the M. Shanara Gilbert Award is for a recent entrant (10 years or fewer) into clinical legal education. It is one of three awards presented by the AALS Section on Clinical Legal Education

The purpose of the award is to honor an individual who has made substantial and distinguished contributions to scholarship, teaching, and/or service in the area of the law relating to sports.

The purpose of the Section Award is to honor an individual for an outstanding contribution to the field of legal writing, reasoning and research. The criteria are service, scholarship, and legal-writing program design or other activity valuable to the advancement of the field of legal writing.

The Clyde Ferguson Award honors an outstanding law teacher, who, in the course of his or her career, has achieved excellence in the areas of public service, teaching, and scholarship, particularly law teachers who have provided support, encouragement and mentoring to colleagues, students and aspiring legal educators. The Derrick Bell Award honors a junior faculty member who, through activism, mentoring, colleagueship, teaching or scholarship, has made an extraordinary contribution to legal education, the legal system, or social justice.

The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding contributions of law teachers in scholarship, teaching and service in the torts and compensation systems of law.

AALS Teachers of the Year are exceptional faculty members nominated by their peers for their excellence in teaching and contributions to their law schools.

The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences offers several awards for service, teaching, and scholarship. They include the Dorothy Bracey/Janice Joseph Minority and Women New Scholar Award, ACJS Minority Mentorship Grant Award, Ken Peak Innovations in Teaching Award, and ACJS/Sage Junior Faculty Professional Development Teaching Award.

The Alliant Energy James R. Underkofler Excellence Teaching Awards were created to recognize outstanding undergraduate faculty or instructional academic staff members in the Alliant Energy service area including UW-Madison.

The Buxbaum Prize for Teaching in Comparative Law recognizes teaching excellence in any subject of comparative public or private law by an early stage scholar (who has been engaged as a law teacher, lecturer, fellow, or in another academic capacity for less than 10 years) in a tenure-track position at an ASCL Member Institution or who is an Individual Member of the ASCL (Category A or B).

SALT gives out several awards to its members at the Society's Annual Celebration, including the Great Teacher Award, the M. Shanara Gilbert Human Rights Award, and Junior Faculty Teaching Award.

UW Law School’s annual teaching awards demonstrate the value we place on excellent teaching. Our faculty engage and inspire UW Law students through thoughtful pedagogy, and we are proud to honor them for this important work. Awards include

The Distinguished Teaching Awards Committee invites nominations of faculty members for UW–Madison and UW System distinguished teaching awards. These awards recognize exemplary achievements in teaching.
The awards are open to any tenure-track or tenured faculty members, regardless of specialty or rank:
• Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award: excellence in teaching (5 awarded)
• Chancellor’s Inclusive Excellence Award: achievements in diversity and inclusion (2 awarded)
• Chancellor’s Teaching Innovation Award: innovation in approaches to learning
• Class of 1955 Teaching Excellence Award: assistant or associate professor, significant teaching contributions to undergraduate students
• Excellence in Community-Based Learning Teaching Award: meaningful community engagement in courses designated as community-based learning through the Morgridge Center
• William H. Kiekhofer Teaching Award: College of Letters and Science assistant or associate professor, excellence in teaching
• Emil H. Steiger Teaching Award: junior faculty member, excellence in teaching
• Van Hise Outreach Teaching Award: excellence in outreach teaching

The Teaching Academy offers two annual awards: the Distinguished Fellow Award and the Distinguished Future Faculty Partner Award. Recipients are awarded based on demonstrated sustained excellence in teaching and learning on the UW-Madison campus and dedicated service to the Teaching Academy. Teaching Academy award recipients cannot be current Executive Committee members.

The Vilas Faculty Early Investigator Award recognizes research and teaching excellence in faculty who are relatively early in their careers. The Vilas Faculty Mid-Career Investigator Awards to recognize research and teaching excellence in mid-career faculty members. These awards provide between $25,000 and $100,000 in flexible funding over two years.

The purpose of the Regents Teaching Excellence Awards is to recognize outstanding teaching in the UW System. The funds for this award are expected to be used for further program enhancements, such as professional development or teaching-related supplies and expenses.
