The Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) Library is one of three State Level Depository Libraries for the Wisconsin Document Depository Program.

- Of these Wisconsin State Level Depository Libraries, the WHS Library's collection is the most complete. It serves as the permanent collection for all Wisconsin state government publications (except for University of Wisconsin publications, which are held at university libraries).
The WHS Library also responsible for the Wisconsin Document Classification System (Widocs), assigning Widocs call numbers to titles in the WDDP, and creating new Widoc numbers as needed. Guide to Wisconsin State Agencies and Their Call Numbers
