Evidence Synthesis Institute for Librarians
The Evidence Synthesis Institute is a professional development program for librarians who support researchers working on topics and in disciplines outside of the health sciences. The Institute is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) with instruction provided by librarians affiliated with Cornell University, the University of Minnesota, Carnegie-Mellon University, the University of Victoria, and others.
The Institute's program, and its accompanying e-book, address the following:
- overview of systematic reviews and similar methodologies,
- guidelines and standards,
- search strategy development,
- software tools,
- quality assessment, and
- systematic review services.
Literature Reviews in the Sciences, Micro-Course
- Literature Reviews in the SciencesCreated in partnership with the Writing Center, this micro-course is comprised of four lessons introducing fundamental research and rhetoric of the literature review process.
This micro-course is framed around the narrative review/dissertation literature review type, and does not cover systematic reviews.
