NAICS

NAICS – North American Industry Classification System

https://www.census.gov/naics/

NAICS industry codes define establishments based on the activities in which they are primarily engaged.

Access: Government website freely available.

We will use the NAICS code for:

  • Doing research
  • Some federal and state agencies require businesses to have a NAICS code for administrative, contracting, and tax purposes
  • Some state governments offer tax incentives to businesses from specific NAICS industries
  • Some contracting authorities also require NAICS codes to determine eligibility to bid on contracts
  • NAICS Codes (can be accessed from home): https://www.census.gov/naics/
  • You can also receive other demographic information from the Census: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/
  • For a detailed walkthrough of how to find your NAICS code, check out this video
