Free, campus resource (supported by librarians and IT professionals) supplying best practice recommendations, education and training on research data management and sharing. 

Data Repository Solutions (UW-Madison)

When needing to publish your research data in order to comply with the requirements of funding agency or publisher, UW-Madison offers the following two solutions, Dryad and Minds@UW. Both resources make your data publicly accessible, provide DOIs upon deposit, and steward your data into the future. In order to decide which one may work best for you, visit the Data Repositories page for additional information and requirements.

  • Dryad
    UW-Madison is a member of Dryad, an open-access data repository, where you can publish and share your research data for free with the institutional membership.
  • Minds@UW
    UW-Madison's open access institutional repository is designed to preserve digital materials related to the university's research mission. Content may include research papers and reports, pre-prints and post-prints, datasets and other born-digital or digitized primary research materials.

Ag Data Commons
Data catalog and repository used to share research data generated by projects/research funded by the USDA.

Resources for Analyzing and Visualizing Data

Analyze & Visualize Data, Researcher Toolkit
The Toolkit links to campus resources supporting each phase of a research project, from planning to publishing. A project of WID (Wisconsin Institute for Discovery), the Data Science HubDoIT, and UW-Madison Libraries.

Statistical Consulting Lab (CALS)
Provides assistance in the statistical aspects of research including project development, experimental/study design, data analyses, software use (including SAS and R), and interpretation of results.

R Programming Workshops
UW-Madison Libraries and Ebling Library offer workshops on R programming for researchers. The intended audience is anyone at UW-Madison who is working with tabular research data and would like to learn how to automate data processing using the R programming language. 

R, RStudio, SAS, and SPSS software can be accessed in the InfoLab at Steenbock Library (Windows Desktop).
