Philosophers IndexThis is the major database for philosophy. It includes citations and abstracts from books and more than 350 journals of philosophy and related fields.

PhilPapersThis database is helpful for exploring ethical and moral issues. For example, you can browse different topics under Applied Ethics by clicking that under "Value Theory." There is also "Social and Political Philosophy" under "Value Theory."
Multi-Subject Databases

JSTORJSTOR is a full-text journal database which provides access to more than 1,200 journal titles covering many subjects including philosophy. In the Advanced Search, you can use the Journal Filter feature to limit your search to journals focused on philosophy.

Google ScholarGoogle Scholar is a search engine for searching academic literature including scholarly journal articles, theses, books, and more. If you access Google Scholar through a library web page, Find It links will appear in results to link to the full text of articles in the library's journal and database subscriptions.

- Use OR to combine similar words or synonyms or variations

- Use quotation marks ("") to search multiple words as a phrase

- Use an asterisk (*) to search for varied endings of words or singular or plural forms
- ethic* to find ethic, ethics, or ethical
- Look for Subjects - words that the database uses to describe what items are about similar to social media tags - and use them as keywords in searches

- Look for ways to limit your search results by publication type or date as appropriate
