Tips for Locating Properties and Spectra in Articles

  • When looking at an article, property data is often displayed in a chart
  • Spectral data may not be displayed as a graph. You may need to skim paragraphs looking for peak values written out.
  • When the data is not the focus of the paper (used for characterization) it may be tucked away in Supplemental Information documents for that article
    • Supplemental Information will be located on the publisher’s website, not in a library database. To get there quickly, Google the DOI or article title. The Supplemental Information (also called Supporting Information) will be linked somewhere on the page – usually at the bottom of the page or in a sidebar. Publishers make these documents freely available, usually as PDFs or DOC files.
