2016-2017 Go Big Read: Evicted : GET INVOLVED
This is the project at Harvard of which Matthew Desmond is a co-director. The Justice and Poverty Project is a broad effort at researrch, dissemination, and outreach that aims to deepen our understanding, energize communities, and ignite public conversation in three areas: mass incarceration, low-income housing and housing instability, and severe deprivation.
Just Shelter was founded by Matthew Desmond and Tessa Lowinske Desmond to raise awareness of the human cost of the lack of affordable housing in America and to amplify the work of community organizations working to preserve affordable housing, prevent eviction, and reduce family homelessness.
Make Room is an advocacy group dedicated to advancing the cause of affordable housing. They encourage voters to consider these issues when in the voting booth in addition to demanding attention, action, and resources from Congress.
