Primary Sources
A primary source is a piece of material evidence that was created during the time period a historian is studying. Primary sources can be texts or documents, but they can also be objects like works of art, tools, structures like buildings or archaeological sites, or other artifacts. In the modern era, photographs, audio or video recordings, and electronic media can also serve as primary sources.
