Company Website - Look at the "Investor", "About", or "History" sections on a company website to learn more them. Since many small companies may be privately held, this could be one of your best sources. Either way, it is important to know what a company is saying about itself.
- Data Axle Reference SolutionsFormerly known as ReferenceUSA, Data Axle Reference Solutions contains directory information on U.S. and Canadian business, health care, and residential listings. Search by company name, geographic area, business type, SIC code, yellow page listing, revenue, location, number of employees or any combination of the above. In addition to address and phone number, each entry includes officer names and titles, corporate affiliation, business type and size of yellow page advertising. Toll free and fax numbers are given for some companies.
Access: Available to anyone on-campus. Available off campus for UW-Madison students, faculty and staff only. - S & P Capital IQCapital IQ provides company intelligence for over 62,000 public companies and 4.4 million private companies, as well as markets data. Use Capital IQ to access detailed financials and transactions data on companies (e.g., IPO, M&A, Private Placement, etc.) Users can screen for companies meeting user defined criteria on numerous data points (e.g. Companies in a specific industry with an market cap of $1 billion; or Mergers and Acquisitions that meet specific criteria that can be used as 'comps.').
