About Organizations
Different organizations have different missions, but they serve similar functions in their communities. They usually offer discounted student membership rates, as well as opportunities for networking, sources of grant funding, and support groups for topics of interest to their members. Some even offer group health insurance for their members.
Not all organizations require membership for access to their services. For example, you can offer join their email listservs at no charge, and these may offer useful announcements about interesting events or funding opportunities while allowing you to get a taste of how the members of the organization interact.
