Government Contracts
USAspending is a U.S. government web site with data on all federal contracts and grants. It was created as a result of the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act.
The Contracts tab allows searching by company name, congressional district, state and contracting agencies. The amount of each award, the extent of competition, and the products or services sold are provided.
The Assistance tab gives the names of recipents and the amount of assistance given in the form of grants, loans and insurance.
Lists of the top 100 contractors for each fiscal year from 2000 to the present are also available.
Patents & Trademarks
For excellent information on patents, see Patents, a research guide by Nancy Spitzer, a librarian at the Wendt Engineering Library.
TESS, the Trademark Electronic Search System created by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, is a searchable database with more than 4 million pending, registered and dead federal trademarks.
For additional information on trademarks, see the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's "Where Do I Start?" web site.
