Articles

Format: (if more than two authors, list the first author's name with et al. behind it)

Example:

Books and E-books

Format: (if more than two authors, list the first author's name with et al. behind it)

[1] A. B. Author, "Title of chapter in the book," in Title of Published Book, C. D. Editor, Ed., x ed. City of Publisher, Abbrev. State, Country if not USA: Abbrev. of Publisher Name, year, ch. x, sec. x, pp. xxx-xxx.

Example:

Handbooks

Format: When choosing the source type in Mendeley, select Book for handbook.

[1] Name of Manual/Handbook, x ed., Abbrev. Name of Co., City of Co., Abbrev. State, year, pp. xx-xx.

Example:

[1] Transmission Systems for Communications, 4th ed., Bell Telephone Lab., Winston-Salem, NC, 1970, pp. 38-67.

 

Market Report

Format (note: include report number as Rep. xxx if one is given; place the name and location of the company after the report title; begin with the report title if no author is given):

[1] A. B. Author and C. D. Author, “Title of report,” Abbrev. Name of Co., City of Co., Abbrev. State, Rep. xxx, year.

IEEE citation example:

[1] A. Howard, "Global market review of road vehicle safety systems - forecasts to 2016: 2008 edition: where we started from," Aroq Ltd., Bromsgrove, U.K., 2008.

 

Patents

Format: (use issued or publication date if multiple dates are given)

[1] A. B. Inventor and C. D. Inventor, "Title of patent," U.S. Patent x xxx xxx, Abbrev. Month day, year.

Example:

[1] S. Nerett, "Pregancy seat belt," U.S. Patent 6 935 700, Aug. 30, 2005.

  

Standards

Format: When choosing the source type in Mendeley, select Report for standards.

[1] Title of Standard, Standard number, date.

Example:

[1] Seat Belt Hardware Test Procedures, SAE Standard J140, 2013.

 

Websites

Format: (if no author is given, start with the date; if no date is available, use n.d.)

[1] A. B. Author. (year, month day). Title (edition) [Type of medium]. Available: http://www.URL

Example:
